Find an editor command
Press Ctrl K (Cmd K on Mac) to open command search. Search by action, menu or tool name, use arrow keys to navigate and Enter to run the command. Escape closes the search. This searches editor commands; the search box in this manual searches documentation.
Useful shortcuts
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl / Cmd O | Open a supported file. |
| Ctrl / Cmd S | Save PSD; active Smart Object contents have their own save workflow. |
| Ctrl / Cmd Z | Undo a completed edit. |
| Ctrl / Cmd C | Copy the selected layer as an image. |
| Ctrl / Cmd Shift C | Copy the visible merged composition. |
| Ctrl / Cmd V | Paste an image when the clipboard contains supported image data. |
| [ and ] | Decrease / increase brush size. |
| X / D | Swap foreground/background colors / reset colors. |
| Arrow keys / Shift + arrows | Move with the Move tool in smaller / larger increments. |
While a text field or text editor has focus, typing should edit that field. Finish the edit or move focus back to the canvas before using single-letter tool shortcuts. Browser or operating-system shortcuts may take precedence.
Move and transform
With Move selected, use corner handles to resize and the rotation handle to rotate. Hold Shift for constrained proportions or rotation increments. Escape cancels an active transform. Use Properties for exact values and Fit canvas to recover your view if the artwork is off-screen.
Image Size changes the composition’s dimensions. Canvas Size changes its bounds with an anchor. Zoom changes neither: it only changes how large the document looks on screen.
